Hi Adam

I was a science teacher (Biology) at a school for 3 years. My third year the school district didn't rehired me. This following September I would have received tenure. How do I explain this in an interview? I show my observations that were done by the vice principals during the interviews to back up my story. There is only one slight problem I don't have principal observation. The principal was new and never once came to see me teach.

When I go into an interview, I usually tell the person interviewing me that my observations were great however due to budgeting cuts and not be a tenure teacher they had to let me go. With that I also say that I enjoyed working there and it was a great experience.

I have letters from co-workers as references also.

Is there anything else I can say or do?

Thanks
Christine

Hi Christine,

I think you are going about it the right way.  Make sure they see those letters from colleagues and Vice Principals...

In our current economic situation your story is all to familiar and anyone interviewing you is sure to understand...

Good luck and keep at it!
