Hi

I'm Fatma from Egypt, and I'm going to have an interview very soon during this week to be an English teacher in a private school; and I wonder if it is different in my case as I'm not a native speaker of the language , so will the questions be as it is or will it differ ? Of course I mean the questions they'll ask to test my English language not the one concerning personality and so on... I just think it will be different a littel bit , what do you think ? And what may the questions be when it become different ?

Thanks
Fatma

Hi Fatma,

Where are you interviewing?  In Egypt or in the US?

yes it may be different...I would very much like to know how your interview goes and what the similarities and differences are to teacher interviews here in the US.

Good luck on your interview. I am curious as to how the interview would be different. I would think alot of the same general principals would apply.

By the way welcome to the forum. I think it would be neat to have other people from other countries that are involved in teaching just to see how they differ from country to country when it concerns teaching in general.

Thank you all,

It seems that all of you are curious to know about the interview here and how is it differ  should I tell you ? Grin
well ... you have to know that the law or you can say the constitution about teachers modified and it became a must now for every teacher here to pass a training in teaching first before he got the job.

So, they told me about this training and they'll call me again next week to give me the details about it. That's all they said when I asked them about the interview and when shall I go to have it.

So, I'm waiting from now till next week and I'll see what will gonna happen here  Undecided

So do you actually have an interview set up with them yet?  Or are you waiting to hear about the certification process?  Either way, I wouldn't wait for them to call you...give them a call in a day or so and ask again.

You know what!, that's what my dad asked me to do , and it's what I'm going to do also. I won't wait for them, I need to move up and do something Instead of just sitting here and do nothing practical, you know

I love to teach; that's also what my dad told me, that when I was young I used to pretend as a teacher and force my relatives from same my age to be as students  Grin.

But of course I won't force any of my students at the future when I got the job I hope.

Ta DA, Today was the waiting the time - Interview time-.
We were 5 girls and 1 boy interviewing but individually. My connection was the owner of the school himself Grin, and that made me comfortable to some extent. I hold my nerves and controlled my nervous.
well, the interview goes like this, first they asked me to introduce myself, Second, they asked about my impression about the school, Third, they asked why I choosed teaching, Then, asked about something I wrote in my C.V, and Then asked me to explain If Rule on the board for 3 minutes, FINALLY, the principle asked me how to behave with a student which is not paying attention with me at the class. At the end they called all of us and asked a question which was (do you think that we were good or you feel we misjudged any1 of you ?).
By the way, the committee consisted of 4 persons, - the owner of the school, the principle, a chemistry professor, and finally an Arabic teacher -.

That's all, and they'll call me if they found me the right person for the job.
ah, need to relaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaax.

well, I'm satisfied about what I did and I learnt so much from this forum, and sorry, I forgot to thank ADAM for this wonderful forum which really was and still will be beneficial for me and for all the teachers.

Updates:
The new news is that they chose me and other 2 from the 6 that had been interviewed, and what will happen is as follows,
we (the three chosen from the interview) and another 3 English teachers already teach at school, will have a training for a week and they'll choose 4 of us.

I do not know why they'll do this , but I have nothing to say, Just worried that I may be out of the four whom they will choose

Good luck to you. Thanks for the update. That is a werid way of doing it. I mean the three that already work there might lose their job then after the training or did I misunderstand? I hope you get a spot.
